Curation, Direction & Ideas

Qwe’re (2021)

I am the artistic director of Qwe’re, a totally DIY and self-funded arts community, programming visual arts shows and sales alongside performance-parties.

With a specifc focus on qorking with emmerging creatives, Qwe’re was born out of a need to reclaim space for queer celebration, unity and freedom.

Qwe’re aims to be radically inclusive, celebrating, platforming and welcoming artists and people of all practices, backgrounds and needs. As we grow and learn, we hope to make these aims and our events as open and tangible as possible, for everyone.

Astro-Tinder (2019)

Sagittarius

Combining social-media, astrology, performance for camera and collaboration I am in the process of developing a 12 piece series centring around how each member of the zodiac would appear on online dating apps.

This project see’s myself and a variety of performance artists and creatives collaborating on a manifestation of their zodiac sign. Here, I utilise artistic direction, styling, project management and adobe suite to create each profile.

Viscid Zine (2018)

Issue 1

In creating Viscid, an independent and self-published zine I have begun to be able to curate emerging female artists and publish their works online and offline, pushing for more diverse representations of womxn and womxn’s art within the creative sector.

Through the publication and creation of Viscid I have widened my creative networks, providing physical copies to customers not only in Britain but also Sweden and even Brazil!

As editor in chief of Viscid, I utilise curatorial, interview, design, management and social media skills to deliver each issue, liaising with each artist every step of the, ensuring their work, brand and selves are curated in the best possible way.

Skinned Live (2018)

Camden People’s Theatre

As artistic director myself and my team launched a new multidisciplinary festival curated around the themes and issues arising from the topic of skin.

My role as artistic director included creating the name, brand, content and sourcing the location of the festival. This role enabled me to push and pitch the “Skin” concept to emerging and established artists as well as venues and industry professionals, further broadening my creative and professional networks.

I sourced each artist through an open call and application published online and offline and conversely invited three established artists to exhibit and put on the 3 day festival at Camden People’s Theatre, these included Heather Agyepong, Jamal Harewood and Diane Wiltshire.

This role allowed me to grow in my role as artistic director through curatorial skills, events management, programming and production, marketing and team management.
